Days go by

I can't believe I haven't posted in a month. Well, I have been busy, but it has also been a month of personal challenges. I try to use this as a journal of my public life, but everything takes place in the shadow of who I am. Things are always less interesting when I get in the way of being me, but sometimes there is no avoiding it. The highlight of the past month would have to be having my picture published two days in a row in two different papers. That's not something that happens very often, like never. Every dog is supposed to have his day and that might have been mine. Actually I am not too interested in what has happened to me. I'm more interested in what I might be doing next.

I have a number of ideas, but I haven't put any energy into any of them yet. I'd like to start a concert series in Monroe Park, but I have only the vaguest idea of where to begin. I think it's a good idea and would have a positive effect on the park. I'd like to have some of the popular local bands appear on Sunday Afternoons. It could have a dampening effect on the feeding programs that dominate park life and at the same time draw people back to the park. Monroe Park has been stigmatized and this could help turn that around. Big things start with something little. With that in mind, maybe I should start with something small, maybe one Sunday afternoon show and see how it goes. I know who my first choice would be and they have their own sound system. It's May now, sometime in June may be a good target date. More on this later, I hope.
